Shining Light Productions produces films and workshops that normalize the grieving process and highlight the healing and transformation that can come from working through grief. Shining Light Productions has produced The Gifts of Grief, a feature length film that highlights the unexpected gifts that can come out deep loss. Currently, the Silent Sorrows series is underway, with the completion of the first short film Infertility, which shows the difficult realities of childlessness, and the deep meaning and hope that can eventually be found through the grief journey. Nancee Sobonya heads Shining Light Productions.
Short Film
"Infertility", the first in the Silent Sorrow series, which explores loses that are commonly unacknowledged and hidden. "Infertility" explores the stories of two women and a man who have faced the difficult realities of childlessness, and in the process of that painful journey they come to find deep meaning and hope. "Infertility" is 17 minutes long which makes it useful for infertility support groups, counseling centers, and for individuals who may see their experiences shared by the participants of the film. Directed by Nancee Sobonya, director of "The Gifts of Grief."

Feature Length Film
Through compelling personal stories, we gain valuable insights from people facing, growing and transforming through grief. What can we learn from our losses? What inner and outer resources do we have to help us cope with our grief? How do we go on? What are the “gifts of grief?” These are the core questions that are explored by ordinary and extraordinary people, including writer, Isabel Allende; Reverend Cecil Williams; writer, Alana Laraine; Zen Monk /Vietnam Veteran, Claude AnShin Thomas; youth motivator, Vinny Ferrero; filmmaker, Lee Mun Wah who celebrate and inspire healing and transformation. This 52 minute documentary invites us to open to pain, learn from loss, and teaches us about the preciousness of life. Directed by Nancee Sobonya.
